Book Club Tea Party
Tea Parties in my Life
I was raised by a mother who LOVED all victorian and cottage-core decor. She owned and still owns most of Royal Albert Old Country Roses set. Yes, you can gasp! And yes, I will be keeping it later on in life. I have had legit conversations with my mama about it haha!
Here we are celebrating my mama’s birthday with a tea party breakfast in 2010.
Childhood Memories
Visiting The Victorian Dawn Tea House in Hesperia, California is one of my favorite childhood memories. My mother would take my sisters and me to so many tea parties there. We would wear our pretty floral skirts from home and at the tea house we would pick fancy tea hats to wear. The tea house had a huge wardrobe full of the cutest accessories that the guests were allowed to wear during their stay. We always had such a wonderful time. It became a beautiful tradition for my sisters and me.
Here I am with my older sister looking and feeling all “fancy.”
Tea Party Tradition
I knew I wanted to continue this tea party tradition before becoming a mother. Whether if I had boys or girls… This tradition was happening! Then I became a mother and I could not wait to start.
Our tea parties are usual very simple. All that is needed is some tea and cookies. But I wanted to do something extra special…
So book club tea parties were created!
We have started a Book Club Tea Party!
Over a year ago I started a children’s book club called, Enchanted Children’s Book Club. A few families get together every six weeks to celebrate the book we have finished. Here are some of my fav book clubs we have done: The Wind in the Willows, Treasure Island, The Chocolate Touch, Charlotte’s Web and A Little Princess. My girls LOVE book club and I do too. But I wanted something more… Something more personal just for the three of us.
Book Club Tea party was created!
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Tea Party
After finishing our book club read aloud, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, we had our first (technically second, I will share our A Little Princess tea party later) book club tea party. We ate vegan raspberry jam tarts, beignets and tea sandwiches and we drank chamomile with red clover tea. We enjoyed all these yummies while having “spilt” tea over us. My girls LOVED this DIY! My sweet Instagram friend, Amanda, inspired me to create the paper teacups with “tea” ribbon spilling over. How cute is it!?!
Everything I do, I do for them
Of course you can think that creating, yet another, family tradition is too much on your plate… Think first what’s on your plate… Now think of the memories that stuff on your plate is creating for your children. If you are happy, then I am so glad to hear that! If you feel like you want do more (not should, but want) then do it, girl! Sprinkle more to your plate or take away and add a tradition just for you and your littles.
I am here cheering you on!
Oh mamas,
I encourage you to go and do that special thing you’ve been meaning to do with your children. Spend your energy with moments that will create their childhood. They are worth that extra mile, I promise.
Do that special thing.
Just you and your children.
They will remember.
