The Hobbit Book Club
We started our summer reading with The Hobbit! Emily, my sweet friend and this month’s book club hostess, chose the best summer vibe book EVER! I have never read it or seen any of the movies! But, boy, was I excited! We read during our 10 hour road trip to California, we read while camping, and we read all cozied up in our home.
Homeschool daddy got to come
I am so happy that my husband got to join this book club since he read it ALL to us! Oh, and because he’s a huge J.R.R. Tolkien. He is the best homeschool daddy out there and I’m so happy he’s mine!
The Feast
Do you know that hobbits eat SEVEN TIMES! This is their meal schedule: Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevenses, Luncheon, Afternoon Tea, Dinner, and Supper!
We had Elevenses!
We ate sausages, bread with butter, parfaits with berries, and the most delicious chicken pot pie and sweet hand pies from Crust Club! The chicken pot pie was packed with chicken, veggies, and creamy sauce, we could not get enough of it. Seriously, every mama had a second serving haha! I will never eat a chicken pot pie that is not from Crust Club!
The Decor
If you aren’t new here then you know that I use all my decor for every book club event we throw. We use the same bowls, trays, etc. I do add new decor that comes from my living room like candles, lanterns, and other little decor details.
Emily had the prettiest Middle-earth table cloth and napkins that added more magic to our decor! My husband and I homemade this “ELEVENSES” banner out of book pages, twine, and a sharpie!
And of course, we had to have a hobbit hole! We used green bedsheets, plastic table cloth, and a painted wooden door that Emily painted! We also added twinkle lights in the inside for a more enchanted time in there!
The activities
My sweet friend and book club hostess, Emily, wrote a beautiful description of our activities on instagram. I just decided to screenshot and add here!
We seriously had the best time! I am so grateful for Emily and the rest of the mamas that help create this magic for our children.
